The High School Band and Choir recently participated in the North American Music Festival held in Cleveland , Ohio from May 15-18. While there, both the band and choir competed against schools from Michigan , Ohio , New Jersey and New York . The Concert Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Maureen Mikucki received an Excellent Rating for their performance. The Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Michael Calvello received a Superior Rating for their performance. Jacob Samples, a freshman in the band, received the award for Outstanding Instrumental Soloist. The Band also received Top Honors when it was selected as the Most Outstanding Band/Orchestra at the competition. The band was also informed that out of a total of 12 Festivals held in the United States and Canada and 37 bands that competed this season, they finished in the Top Ten placing 8 th overall.
Mr. Calvello states “This is a tremendous honor for all of our students. The awards are a culmination of hard work and dedication that each student has put in over the past eight months. We are extremely proud of all of our students.” While in Cleveland , both groups were able to spend a day at Cedar Point Amusement Park and visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before departing for home.
